Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon green onions optional garnish

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Whisk hoisin sauce, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, and black pepper.
  3. Coat chicken thoroughly with marinade and let sit for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Arrange chicken on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Brush extra glaze over chicken and broil 1–2 minutes until caramelized.
  7. Rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Chicken thighs stay more tender and flavorful than breasts in this recipe. Watch carefully while broiling because the glaze burns quickly. Store leftovers refrigerated up to 4 days.
